Instructions For Emergency Situations
In case of an emergency do not wait for instructions from the staff, leave and help others who are in the same situation.
General Emergency Number 112
Dial 112 in genuine emergencies when someone’s life, health, property or the environment is threatened or in danger.
Report an emergency:
· Dial 112. if you have a 112 App in your phone, use it.
· Describe the emergency, what has happened and where.
· Follow the instructions you are given.
· Do not hang up until told to do so.
· Redial 112 if the situation changes significantly.

Campus Area
Campus buildings are surrounded by a parking lots, park and forest. Valkeakoski secondary school is also located on campus. There is some traffic through and around the area.

VAAO campus is about 500 meters east. There is industrial sites within 5 kilometers from the campus.

2.4 Identifying and Treating the Risks
Safety Skills
Each member of the community has an important role in creating the strong safety culture. Please follow the campus group in Yammer to learn more about the safety trainings and events.
Each member of the staff should take time to learn the 3 E's of basic safety:
- Evacuation - how to get out and help others to exit the building
- Emergency first aid - how to assess the state of a person and start the first aid procedures
- Extinguishing - how to put out a small fire with basic equipment
Safety Walks
One of the best ways to improve the safety is safety walks. During a safety walk safety arrangement and equipment is checked and risks and hazards assessed.

3. Safety Arrangements
3.1 Personal Safety
Mobile phone
The most important safety equipment is the mobile phone. You should always carry it with you and make sure it has enough battery to operate.
We recommend the 112 APP to all phones. HAMK Staff phones have it by default.

Access control and security guards
All HAMK building have access control. Staff and students will be issued with access tags and keys. Some areas have restricted access. If you lose or misplace your tag or key report it to property management as soon as possible.
Security guard services on the campus are provided by Securitas oy. Security guards can sometimes be asked for an event or situation to ensure safety.
HAMK ID Card
HAMK staff wear a HAMK ID Badge. It is highly recommended to wear the card while on campus at all times.
3.2 Fire Safety
Safety Maps
In all building there is a safety map on each floor. The map shows the location of fire and medical safety equipment, exits and other relevant information. Please get familiar with the maps of areas where you work or study frequently and re-examine them regularly.
Fire Alarm and Evacuation
Get familiar with alarm systems and emergency exits on buildings and areas where you work or study frequently. Take every alarm seriously, evacuate as soon as you hear it. Always take your mobile phone with you.

Extinguishing equipment
There are fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets that can be used to put out fire. Please get familiar with the equipment. Use the chart below to identify the equipment:

3.3 First aid
Everyone should have at least a general idea on first aid. The most important thing is to react, to assess the situation and call 112 for help, if needed.

Working With Live Fire
Working with live fire requires a permission from the property services. In this camous there are no designated areas for working with fire.

There are three shelters in the campus. Shelters can be set up for use in 72 hours.
